About
Rachel King is an artist who works in a variety of media, but has a deep love for woodcut. She recieved an M.F.A. from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (P.A.F.A.) in 2017 and a B.S. in Art Education from Roberts Wesleyan College in 2015. She was awarded the Murray Dessner Travel Award following her time at P.A.F.A. and traveled to Greece to gain a deeper understanding of the refugee crisis as it impacted the country and people of Greece. She has also spent time studying art abroad at the Lorenzo de' Medici Institute in Florence, Italy. Rachel currently works as an artist and art teacher in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida.
Rachel is passionate about aiding those in their discovery of self-expression through art. She is an artist who loves considering the beautiful ways a child thinks, which informs her work and creative process. Rachel has interned with the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts Community Outreach Program and the Creative Workshop at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY. She taught art to students in rural communities through the Arts in the Parks program in Portland, Indiana and worked as an art teacher at the Summer Program run by Mount Hope Family Center and the University of Rochester. Art education in museums, schools, and communities is of great importance to Rachel as a teacher and artist.
